Out with the old, In with the new

Happy New Year!

I don't usually make resolutions, but I always have a few things in mind that I want to do in the upcoming year. This year I am doing a grateful journal, an idea I found on Pinterest (more on that in a future post!)

I also found this idea on Pinterest. I turned all of my and my husband's clothes hangers around the other way. After a year, whatever is still hanging in this direction, aka not worn, will be donated. It will be easy for me to keep track because I do all the laundry and hanging up of clothes. :)

I've also got a great start on my beginning-of-the-year-cleaning-out-crap list. I've already purged the filing cabinet and have started shredding. I cleaned out all my expired coupons to get ready to send to the troops overseas. I'm doing a craft supply exchange with my mom's group this month and have already started filling a box. This summer I hope to do a garage sale with a neighbor, so I'm collecting things from every room for the sale. I started in the master bedroom with my dresser. :)

Luckily, I love organizing and feeling organized. It drives me crazy when I can't find what I'm looking for or when items don't have a specific place. Hopefully I can keep up this organization motivation all year!

Pantry reorganization

So I'm a little behind on blog posts. Friday I was down for the count with an extremely bad headache. We even had to leave J's school Christmas party early because I thought I was going to get sick there! Saturday we were busy visiting friends all day for the holidays. And that brings us to today, Sunday, our relax day. We never do anything very exciting on Sundays, so I decided to post about something I did a few days ago.

The pantry in this house drives me crazy. It's the smallest pantry I've ever had. It's almost like it was an after thought - oops we forgot the pantry, so we'll just squeeze one in right here. The shelves are only 7"deep and there's all this extra space at the bottom that doesn't get utilized very well. So I decided to reorganize.

I took almost everything out of the pantry and rearranged the shelves. I bought a shelf unit from Amazon to use at the bottom. It just fits, but it utilizes all the space just like I wanted!

I'm working on lots of fun projects for the holidays, but I can't share them yet as I don't want to ruin the surprises. Make sure you check back to see what I am making!
