Winter Wreath

This is the first year I hung a Christmas wreath on the front door. I enjoyed it so much, I decided to make wreaths for the door for the different seasons. I found this idea from Pinterest at this blog. It sounded easy, so I gave it a try. Mine is much simpler, but still pretty to me.

First I wound yarn around styrofoam balls. I got the yarn on clearance at Joann and Michaels. I used a bit of hot glue to glue the end to the ball, and then wound the yarn around until I got the size I wanted. Then I used another little bit of glue to secure the end of the yarn.

I used white, cream, and gray yarn. I tied each ball onto the wreath form with a small piece of yarn. I found this silver star decorative piece in the Christmas clearance at Michaels and also tied it on with a bit of yarn. Next January, I'll think add a more balls to make a random circle instead of just the basic wreath form circle.

I love how sparkly it is!

Simple Wreath Bow

I finally decided to decorate my wreaths today. They've only been hanging bare like this the entire month of December. Better late than never, I guess.

This simple wreath bow is all my idea. I can have an original thought! haha First I took a large width ribbon (2.5 inches) and made two loops like shown in the picture below. Then I tied those loops together like you would a shoe.

The bow should look like this. I leave the ribbon attached to the spool, so I can adjust the length of the ends and fix the bow so it's even.

I made another bow the same way out of smaller coordinating ribbon to attach on top of the wide ribbon. After adjusting the length of the ends to how I liked them, I matched them up and cut the ribbon.

Using a twist tie (like the ones that come with garbage bags) I threaded it through the back of the small bow. Then I threaded it through the front of the big bow and twisted it. I did the same thing with the big bow and attached it to the wreath.

Simple, but at least decorated! Next year I think I'll try some brighter ribbon other than green. I didn't even think about the green on green when I was at the store, I just wanted to get two coordinating ribbons.
